Mississippi State walks off Ole Miss in front of NCAA record crowd

Mississippi State drew a record crowd for Saturday’s Ole Miss game, part of the school’s Super Bulldog Weekend. MSU fans who packed Dudy Noble Field were treated to a thrilling finish.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, Dakota Jackson singled through the left side to plate 2 runs, giving MSU an 8-7 walk-off victory.

The Dude was packed with 16,423 fans, an NCAA on-campus attendance record, for the rivalry clash between the last 2 winners of the College World Series.

It was a back-and-forth rivalry battle. Each team scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning. The Rebels went up 3-2 in the 5th and made it 5-2 in the 6th inning. The Bulldogs scored 4 runs over the 6th and 7th innings to take a 6-5 lead before Ole Miss retook the lead with 2 runs in the top of the 9th.
Colton Ledbetter was MSU’s most productive batter, recording 3 RBIs on 2 home runs.
The rivalry series heads to a Sunday rubber game, set for 1 p.m. CT/2 p.m. ET Sunday, streaming on SEC Network+.
