After seeing 13 recruits enroll early, Mississippi State only has seven current commits waiting to sign until National Signing Day. For coach Dan Mullen and his staff, no recruit is more important than 4-star RB Kylin Hill. To prove it, Mullen brought his entire staff to visit Hill, who shared a photo of the visit on his Twitter account.

Mullen is determined to keep Hill, who committed on May 18, pledged to the Bulldogs. It’s no secret that Ole Miss and Texas have been trying hard to flip the 4-star Columbus (Miss.) product. Hill, who measures 5-foot-11, 210 pounds, is rated the No. 13 running back and No. 5 Mississippi prospect by the 247Sports Composite.

Four-star RB Toneil Carter has already enrolled in Austin, but new Longhorns coach Tom Herman still wants Hill in his first class. Ole Miss on the other hand, is desperate for a running back commit. The Rebels went all in, and missed out, on 5-star Clinton (Miss.) RB Cam Akers, who committed to Florida State late last month. Choosing to focus on Hill this summer appears to have been the right strategy for the Bulldogs.

Somewhat surprising, MSU is one of only five SEC schools currently with a running back pledge rated 4-stars or higher. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee all have one, but notably absent are Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
