A pair of Mississippi State assistants have had their contracts extended by the university on Tuesday, according to reports.

Defensive coordinator Zach Arnett and strength and conditioning coach Tyson Brown have both been inked to new deals, according to the Jackson (Miss.) Clarion-Ledger’s Tyler Horka.

Arnett joined the staff of Mike Leach from San Diego State, where he spent 2 seasons at the same position while coaching linebackers. He moved up the ranks at SDSU beginning with a graduate assistant position with the program in 2011. Arnett was named a nominee for the annual Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach in college football.

Brown was part of Leach’s staff at Washington State, joining the Cougars in 2014. Prior to that, he spent a year at South Florida and 2 years at Washington. His coaching career began at Baylor in 2009 as a graduate assistant, followed by an internship with the Houston Texans in 2010.

The Bulldogs are 2-7 and conclude their season against Missouri on Saturday.
