Jeffery Simmons is returning to the playing field quicker than expected.

Per Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com, the former Mississippi State star and current Tennessee Titans defensive tackle will be back to practice next week and could make his NFL debut in Week 7 when the Titans host the Los Angeles Chargers.

While preparing for the NFL Combine in February, Simmons suffered a torn ACL that required surgery. Despite the injury, he was still picked 19th overall by the Titans in the draft. He signed a four-year contract worth $12.66 million with a signing bonus of $7.23 million.

A two-time All-SEC honoree during his time with the Bulldogs, Simmons made 63 total tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, two sacks while forcing a fumble during his junior year in 2018.

A 5-star recruit out of high school, the Mississippi native chose the Bulldogs over Alabama and Ole Miss.
