New Mississippi State coach Mike Leach is still working on assembling his coaching staff, but at the moment, DC Bob Shoop is still a member of that staff.

Could he jump ship before Leach makes a decision on his future, though?

Per a report from FootballScoop.com, Michigan is trying to add Shoop to its staff:

Sources tell FootballScoop Michigan is seeking to hire Mississippi State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop.

At this time we do not believe a deal is in place. Shoop remains employed by Mississippi State at this time.

Michigan has a defensive coordinator already in Don Brown, so it remains to be seen what, if any, position Shoop would be interested in on Michigan’s staff.

If Leach keeps Shoop around as defensive coordinator, that may be enough to keep him away from Ann Arbor.
