Two-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Roman Harper provided some words of advice for Zach Arnett and Mississippi as they prepare to face No. 14 LSU on Saturday.

In a social media video post by Justin Frommer, Mississippi State sports reporter for 247Sports, Harper said the Bulldogs’ offense has to “continue to get it going,” following the team’s overtime win over Arizona last week.

“I thought they were a little too conservative (against Arizona),” Harper said. “I don’t see why you have the (school’s) all-time leading passer (Will Rogers), and you’re running on 3rd-and-6. Nobody does that.”

Harper noted that the Bulldogs have played “very sound defense.”

“I really enjoy what they’re doing defensively and what they’re trying to accomplish,” Harper said, who played safety for the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers. “For me to say that, it’s the ultimate compliment in college football.”

Overall, Harper has enjoyed watching the Bulldogs compete, as they enjoy a 2-0 start.

“I think they’ve done a really good job,” Harper said. “It’s a natural progression for Zach Arnett.”

But, Harper added, he wants to see Mississippi State “go out and attack” and “be aggressive at times.”

“If they can do that, Mississippi State is a team I like going forward,” Harper said. “I need them to be not as conservative if they want my pick every time.”

The Bulldogs go up against LSU at noon Saturday on ESPN.
