San Fransisco Giants release video ahead of retiring Will Clark's No. 22
The San Fransisco Giants are set to retire Will Clark’s No. 22 jersey Saturday night.
Clark, a former Mississippi State Bulldog, is a legend for Giants fans. He was one of the top power hitters in MLB in the 1980’s and a Golden Spikes winner in his time at Mississippi State. The 1985 national champion in Starkville also earned 2 1st-team All-American honors in 1984,85. At the professional level, ‘Will the Thrill’ was a 5-time NL All-Star from 1988-92.
The Giants released the following video to honor Clark ahead of his jersey retirement.

Clark’s 22 is the 11th number retired by the organization, including Willie Mays’ 24 and Barry Bonds’ 25.
Blows my mind he’s not in the HOF.
That’s a tough case to make. He didn’t have a lot of complete seasons. I love Clark, but there are decent number of players who deserve consideration before him. Start with Dwight Evans.
Dale Murphy and Lou Whitaker before Dwight Evans.
I haven’t looked at Whitaker much, but Evans was a far superior player to Dale Murphy.
@obdog…
I don’t know about all that. Murphy has a few MVPs and a bunch more decorations.
As an India… err, Guardians fan … just my un-biased .02
I loved watching him play growing up. Granted, being in SW FL, I didn’t see him much unless it was the playoffs, on WGN against the Cubs or the game of the week on ESPN or NBC.
But no, he’s not a HOFer. He’s in the Hall of Very Good, but is he among the best of the best? No. He’ll probably eventually get in via one of these era committees though.
Will Clarke was my first favorite baseball player. Starkville had Will and Jerry Rice in the Bay Area at the same time. Everyone was a Giants/49ers fan. Those 49er starter jackets were sold out in Starkvegas.
