Report: CB Shaq Wiggins allowed to transfer to Mississippi State after appealing restriction
After Shaq Wiggins announced he was transferring from Louisville earlier this year, many believed the cornerback would seek to reunite with his old defensive coordinator, Todd Grantham, at Mississippi State.
Wiggins followed Grantham from Georgia to Louisville, and when the coordinator was hired by Mississippi State, the Bulldogs seemed like a good bet to land the cornerback.
That speculation came to a screeching halt, however, after Louisville coach Bobby Petrino blocked Wiggins’ transfer to five programs, including Kentucky and Mississippi State. Blocking a transfer to the Wildcats makes sense as they play the Cardinals annually. A restriction on a move to the Bulldogs didn’t seem to have any apparent reason behind it, however.
Wiggins reportedly appealed the restriction against transferring to Mississippi State, which led to Louisville allowing the potential move.

This could be a further indication that Wiggins is considering re-joining Grantham and playing for the Bulldogs. Mississippi State will have a new-look defense in 2017 after signing several JUCO players on that side of the ball. Wiggins would be another new veteran with experience in the scheme.
