Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen is looking to fill the school’s defensive coordinator vacancy left by Manny Diaz.

However, he has a favorite, and he isn’t going to offer the job to anyone else until he turns it down. That man is Ed Orgeron, sources are telling FootballScoop.com.

Orgeron, who just completed his first season as LSU’s defensive line coach, is top-notch D-line coach and recruiter. He was the head coach at Ole Miss for three seasons from 2005 to 2007, finishing with a 10-25 mark with the Rebels.

Diaz left the Bulldogs to join Mark Richt’s staff at Miami.
