Future Gator? Mississippi State offensive lineman Stewart Reese enters NCAA transfer portal
When it comes to the latest NCAA transfer portal news, Mississippi State’s loss could soon be Florida’s gain.
That’s because rising senior offensive lineman Stewart Reese has entered the portal. News of Reese’s decision to enter the transfer database was first reported by Thomas Goldkamp of 247Sports.
Should Reese decide to leave Mississippi State’s program, he would be eligible immediately at his next stop as he would be a graduate transfer.
Reese has several ties to Florida’s program, including the fact he signed to play for Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy at Mississippi State and his younger brother David is a linebacker on the Gator roster. There was speculation that Reese may leave Mississippi State for Florida during the previous offseason but that obviously didn’t happen.
In addition to starting each of his three seasons in Starkville, Reese has been named a member of the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll every year of his collegiate career.
Given Florida’s issues on the offensive line at times during the 2019 season, Reese would likely be an upgrade at a position of need in Gainesville should he choose to play for Mullen for the second time during his career.
This looks like a possible good get for the Gators.
Brick by Brick and wheel by wheel, the foundation, engine, and constructs of an overachieving football team is disintegrating into mediocrity under the likes of Moorhead and Leach. When will it end?
Relax. Reese has no ties to the new staff which is important. Also he is a road grader guard not exactly fit for the new offense. He would have started because he is that good but he wants another opportunity. Dont try to blame Leach.
You relax, that commenter knows nothing of the sport and just provides troll responses.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse in any country. If it were, the laws would lose their effect, because it can always be pretended.
Umm, the last time Leach “Air Raid” offense was successful(SIC) IN THE SEC? LEACH “AIR RAID OFFENSE” managed a 20-26 overall record and 10-22 SEC conference record. The Wildcats were 5-6, 7-5, 6-6, and 2-9 in those PROLIFIC OFFENSES. Talk about flattening the curve!
This is a transfer that makes sense, unlike leaving because of a tweet that your coach posted when he had no idea it would offend anyone. Reese is heading to a good program, a coaching staff he knows, a place where he has connections, and a team that can use his talents. Who knows. Maybe they offer a stronger graduate program in whatever field of study interests him to boot.
At any rate, thanks for all the hard work, Steward. Hope it works out well for you. Even in blue and orange, you will still be part of the family.
He is not a real fit for this offense honestly. He would have started off experience and talent but will probably enjoy Florida better should that be where he lands.
lol
Dan is doing what all coaches do when they leave….poach the players they recruited. Reese is good at the run blocking…the Air Raid will be passing 70-90 times per game. He would be overwhelmed by the SEC pass rushers.
Should have paid him more money to stay.
