As the offensive coordinator at Penn State, current Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead has a lot of experience facing Iowa’s defense.

That’s good news, as the Bulldogs are set to take on the Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl this postseason. Moorhead knows his offense has its work cut out for it.

As you can see in the video below, shared by Logan Lowery on YouTube, Moorhead discusses the challenges of facing the Hawkeyes:

“I feel fortunate because I have two years of game plans for them,” he said. “The big thing about facing Iowa’s defense is on first and second down, they don’t do a ton of stuff. The sum is better than the parts, I guess. They have a sound scheme and play with incredible physicality. I think Coach (Phil) Parker and his staff do a great job of knowing how you’re going to attack and making in-game adjustments. Then, on third down, they get a little more creative and in the red zone and goal line. More than anything, it’s going to be a physical game.”

The Outback Bowl kicks off at noon Eastern time on New Year’s Day and can be seen on ESPN2.
