Facing heavy criticism and calls for benching, the Mississippi State quarterback turned in one of his best performances when it mattered most. Fitzgerald was responsible for all four MSU touchdowns, throwing for two and running for two. It was the second rushing touchdown that pretty much clinched the upset victory for the Bulldogs over No. 16 Texas A&M.
