Mississippi State looks to be finding its legs under Mike Leach.

Behind dynamic sophomore quarterback Will Rogers, the Bulldogs have won 2 straight after a loss to Alabama in Tuscaloosa. While they were expected to defeat Vanderbilt — and did so easily to the tune of a 45-6 rout in Nashville — they faced a much stiffer challenge in the form of Kentucky.

However, Rogers was nearly perfect, going 36-of-39 for 344 yards as the Bulldogs saw their defense come up with 3 interceptions of Will Levis in an upset victory over the Wildcats. And, with the release of the Coaches Poll Top 25 on Sunday, they are the only team in the FBS that has 3 wins over teams currently ranked in the poll, as SEC communications director Chuck Dunlap notes:

As Dunlap referenced, the Bulldogs beat NC State 24-10 on Sept. 11, with the victory over Kentucky — ranked No. 17 — and their 26-22 win over Texas A&M — slotted at No. 12 — counting as the other 2 Top 25 wins.

Leach’s team can clinch bowl eligibility with a victory at Arkansas on Saturday. Kickoff on the SEC Network is set for 4 p.m. ET.
