If this doesn’t get you excited for football season, we’re not sure what will, Bulldogs fans.

During Saturday’s Maroon & White game, MSU QB Will Rogers threw a 55-yard dart to wide receiver Zavion Thomas, who reeled in the catch under pressure with one hand. Shawn Preston was playing good defense too, but sometimes there’s just not much you can do.

Mississippi State is going through quite the change from last season to 2023. The Bulldogs are transitioning from legendary Mike Leach’s Air Raid to rising star Kevin Barbay’s offense. But if the play above has shown anything, it’s that Rogers’ deep ball is more than ready for the former App State’s offensive system.

He started slow Saturday, but he’s picking up as the game goes along. It’s important not to overreact to spring game play, but this seems to be a good sign for MSU’s offense under Rogers and Barbay moving forward.
