Will Rogers found Jeffrey Pittman for a 1-yard touchdown pass midway through the 3rd quarter. The swing pass came on 3rd down and capped an 11-play drive that covered 75 yards in 5:49.
It meant Mississippi State narrowed the deficit against Alabama to 31-17. But it also ended a notable drought for the Bulldgos quarterbacks. It was the first TD pass by a State QB against Alabama since 2014.
It was the first time since Dak Prescott found Jameon Lewis in 2014 that the Bulldogs produced a passing touchdown against the Crimson Tide.
Rogers previously had 7 interceptions and no touchdowns against Alabama.
Rogers began the game 8-for-15 passing for 72 yards with the touchdown and 2 interceptions.
Alabama got a field goal on the ensuing drive as the Bulldogs were set to get the ball back with 2:50 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
