Willie Gay and the Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a home playoff game against the red-hot Buffalo Bills on Sunday evening.

However, Gay — the former Mississippi State standout linebacker — is facing criminal charges after an incident on Wednesday night.

Per KCTV 5, Gay is facing a misdemeanor criminal damage charge and was still in jail as of Thursday morning:

Gay, 23, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. and booked into the Johnson County Detention Center, where he remained Thursday morning awaiting bond.

There has been no additional information released about the incident, and the Chiefs have not offered any update on Gay’s status for Sunday’s game.

Gay appeared in 12 games for the Chiefs in 2021, recording 48 tackles, 2 interceptions and 4 pass breakups.
