Mizzou and Kansas used to have one of the fiercest rivalries in college sports, but that all changed when the Tigers left the Big 12 for the SEC.

Now, the two sides haven’t been able to get the rivalry restarted in either basketball or football, but on Sunday, they came together to play an exhibition basketball game to raise money for hurricane relief.

In the aftermath of the game that raised $1.75 million for the hurricane efforts, football coach Barry Odom said he thinks the two teams should play each other every year:

The Border War needs to happen again, and for Odom, who played for the Tigers back during the Big 12 era, it’s a personal wish that the two schools would resume the rivalry.

It won’t happen anytime soon, since Mizzou has pretty much filled its non-conference football schedule the next few years.

However, AD Jim Sterk wants to resume the rivalry with Illinois, so perhaps the game with Kansas could follow.
