Mizzou may very well be the hottest team in the SEC heading into the final weekend of the regular season. After starting off with a 1-5 record, the Tigers have won five consecutive games in dominant fashion — never truly being tested in any of the five contests. Now the Tigers have a great chance of extending the winning streak to six against a lowly Arkansas team that can’t seem to put together a full game of consistent play.

Missouri coach Barry Odom is beginning to receive buzz about being the SEC’s Coach of the Year for his efforts this season but will have to finish strong to receive any real traction for that honor.

Odom spoke during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference. Here’s a summary of what he had to say:

  • Opening comments: We are growing as a team, incredibly healthy and we have a ton of respect for Bret and his staff and his team.
  • What are your thoughts on the speculation around Bret Bielema at Arkansas? I think he’s a tremendous coach. I respect him as a person and as a friend. I don’t know much about the speculation you speak of but I know Arkansas will be prepared. He’s done a good job recruiting as well.
