Missouri picked up a confidence-boosting 65-33 win over Memphis on Saturday. The ground game was front and center as the Tigers rushed for more than 250 yards.

On the SEC coaches weekly media teleconference, Odom talked about his three impressive ball-carriers and why a committee approach is working.

On his running backs:

  • All three are so important to having success. Larry Rountree makes one cut and gets vertical. Last year, he was looking to make the next move, instead of going north to south… The group that impressed me the most this week has been the running backs. the healthy competition makes your team better

On the RBs willingness to be used in a committee approach:

  • It won’t work unless they go along with it. even if it’s just one. that speaks to their character, there’s only on RB and one QB on the field and those are the ones that cause players that are upset and we don’t have any of that.

Odom also took other questions.

On DL Akial Byers:

  • He has at times been our best defensive end on first and second down. He’s played all four d-line spots in games.

What can teams do to slow Alabama down?

  • I didn’t have answers then, I probably still don’t. Having the turnovers in your favor, if you can do that… they are really good in every area. The explosive players is what sets them apart.
