Missouri’s sudden defensive decline is a huge concern for coach Barry Odom, so much so that he might be getting a little bit more involved on that side of the ball.

After giving up just 16.2 points per game in 2015, the Tigers find themselves 80th among FBS schools in allowing 29.7 points per game this season. Missouri’s defensive issues reached a boiling point last week when Middle Tennessee State scored 51 points to hand the Tigers an embarrassing loss on Homecoming.

Odom served as defensive coordinator at Memphis from 2012-2014 before accepting the same position at Missouri last year. He was promoted to head coach after the regular season, but now it looks like he’ll be lending a hand to defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross’ struggling squad.

We’ll see just how involved Odom is when Missouri (2-5, 0-3) hosts Kentucky (4-3, 3-2) at 12 p.m. ET Saturday.
