Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker is preparing for his defense to face a dynamic Auburn offense on the road in Week 4.

Who plays quarterback is still up in the air, and when reporters shared a development about TJ Finley being unavailable, it was news to Baker. Finley is reportedly unavailable this week because of a shoulder injury, and Auburn will likely play Robby Ashford or Zach Calzada. Auburn has alternated Finley and Ashford to start this season, though both have struggled with turnovers.

When Baker was told Finley is out, he replied, “Oh, is he? Didn’t know that,” and added that Missouri has practiced for multiple Auburn QBs this week.

Baker said the Mizzou defense needs to create more havoc, and against a Bryan Harsin offense, formations can be tricky.

“You’ll see the same play, but it’s always presented differently,” he said.

Auburn’s currently ranks No. 91 in the nation in points per game (26), No. 38 in rushing yards per game (205), and No. 60 in total yards per game (430). Missouri’s defense is currently ranked tied for No. 79 in points allowed per game (27).

In Week 2, Missouri faced Kansas State and its dynamic offense similar to the offense that Auburn utilizes. Kansas State accumulated 336 total yards with the 235 of them coming from the rushing offense against the defense of Missouri.
