Brian Hartline was not in a forthcoming mood during Wednesday’s Cotton Bowl press conference.

Ohio State’s offensive coordinator and highly-regarded wide receivers coach addressed a number of topics and was asked by one reporter how much Harrison was hurting to not suit up for one more game. To this point, Harrison has not confirmed any plans for the bowl game or the 2024 NFL Draft but speculation around his status continues to swirl.

“How do you know Marvin’s not playing? I don’t know, I guess we’ll just have to find out on Friday,” Hartline responded with a sly smile. “Coach Day can hit on that when you guys ask.”

While Harrison has not commented publicly about his plans, he was spotted at practice with Ohio State this week. However, it feels noteworthy that he was seen working on a training bike but did not take any reps in practice.

Hartline went on to explain Harrison is indeed frustrated to miss any rep, but it’s his job as the coach to protect the star player from unnecessary reps. As for Friday, Hartline continued to tease the fact that Harrison likely feels “ready to roll” when the time comes.

“Any rep that he doesn’t take, he is frustrated and always wanting to be out there on every rep. It is my job to make sure he doesn’t expose himself to any rep he does not need, but as far as how much playing time and all that, I’m sure Coach Day can iron that out for you guys,” Hartline said. “But Marv’s ready to roll if you ask him.”
