Missouri has become known for its draft picks along the defensive line, but it was an offensive lineman who went off the board in the second round of Friday night’s draft.

Offensive lineman Mitch Morse, a former tackle who will likely play center in the NFL, was taken 17th in the second round, 49th overall, by the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s the third Missouri player drafted this year after Shane Ray (No. 23) and Dorial Green-Beckham (No. 40), and he’s the second player from last year’s team drafted.

Morse was projected by some as a third-round pick, but snuck into the middle of the second round when all was said and done. The Chiefs will get one of the most intelligent players in the draft in the form of a multiple-time SEC academic honor roll student-athlete.
