Cinderella (Princeton) Tigers? Fans, media flame Mizzou's rough Round of 32 loss
Princeton basketball is on to the Sweet 16 in the Year 2023!
Missouri, a No. 7 seed that breezed past Utah State on Thursday, was stunned Saturday evening at the hands of the Princeton Tigers. Princeton’s offense made Missouri’s defense look rough, and that’s putting it nicely.
There are times where it looked like Mizzou was completely uninterested in playing basketball. This marks the 3rd straight season a 15-seed has reached the Sweet 16. And with how wild of a tournament this has been, this result seems barely out of the ordinary. Fairleigh Dickinson shocked the world Friday night by beating 1-seed Purdue, becoming just the 2nd 16 seed to own a No. 1 seed.
But fans weren’t quite ready to let Mizzou off the hook. They flamed the Tigers on social media following a rough performance against Princeton Saturday.
Look at Missouri ?

Congrats to Missouri on joining Arizona as the second program to have two losses to 15 seeds, in arguably funnier fashion!

Any other SEC teams want to join us in the Sweet 16? Not you, Missouri.

Great year. Sad loss. What might have been. Looked like we didn’t take the whitey’s seriously
College basketball is less of a science than it used to be. I know some fans and players and even coaches, don’t want to understand this. But often times the science of something prevails over the, I’m going to use the word “art” of something. I’m personally fine with that, if somebody else wants to say it’s something Missouri has a patent on,… well that just their obvious ignorance showing.
Here’s what fair (and also smart) people should think about this game. Princeton as a team and as individuals played very well and deserved to win again tonight against Dennis Gates’s version of Missouri. One example of their qualification is an outstanding sharp shooter but the whole team played outstanding basketball. Can they keep winning?, answer: Can their opponents play even better basketball. Dennis Gates had several days and a whole game to do things like put his best defender on their ace., and he had a whole game to change his defense and offense.
The SEC has had a good NCAA tournament so far and can still accomplish more. Maybe will?
Princeton played their game and hit their shots. For whatever reason Mizzou didn’t have the defensive intensity we usually have. Very few turnovers and I would guess Princeton had at least 20 points after an offensive rebound.
It was still a good season especially considering a first year coach, disappointed but still optimistic. Hopefully the boosters can pull together enough NIL money to keep Kobe one more year but if he decides to not come back and go to the NBA well, he certainly earned the right to do that. What a great year that kid had.
