Cody Schrader has had a chip on his shoulder this season.

The senior running back has been looking to prove himself and silence the critics, and he’s doing a good job so far. He’s recorded 807 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season, including a 159-yard, 2-touchdown performance against South Carolina on Saturday.

For Schrader, he’s just doing what he knows he’s capable of.

“I think for me individually, it’s proving myself right,” Schrader said following Saturday night’s game. “I believed in myself throughout my entire football career, and I felt like besides my family and friends, everyone’s kind of counting me out. Every time I touch the ball, I gotta make the best opportunity that I get with the ball each time, just to continue to prove myself right that I do belong here, because I do belong in the SEC, I do belong as one of the best running backs in the country.”

Schrader has been a huge part of Missouri’s offense this season and part of the reason why the Tigers have already won 7 games.

Missouri will get a bye week next weekend, but after that they’ll have their toughest game of the year and a chance to put themselves in the driver’s seat in the SEC East against Georgia.
