South Carolina will be down a number of players due to opt-outs following the firing of Will Muschamp in Columbia but the team that looks to be the most limited Saturday night in Williams-Brice Stadium will be the visitors.

That’s because the Tigers are down 11 players due to a mix of positive COVID tests and contact tracing.

In addition to being down all those players, defensive coordinator Ryan Walters is also out due to contact tracing, Missouri announced leading up to the start of the game.

With Walters sidelined, defensive backs coach David Gibbs will serve as Missouri’s defensive coordinator against South Carolina.

Now down to nine full-time assistants with Walters out for the game, Missouri has temporarily promoted defensive quality control/analyst Grant O’Brien into a full-time role for the South Carolina game.

No matter how you slice it, Saturday night’s Mayor’s Cup matchup is going to be an interesting one in Columbia.
