Dennis Gates is putting together his first coaching staff at Mizzou, and he’s making some interesting hires.

On Thursday, he reportedly added a coach with whom he has a ton of experience to his staff, dating back to his days at Florida State and Cleveland State.

Per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Gates is hiring Dickey Nutt to be part of his assistant coaching staff for the Tigers:

Nutt is the brother of former Arkansas and Ole Miss head football coach Houston Nutt. Dickey has previously served as a special assistant to Gates at Cleveland State and was a video coordinator at Florida State when Gates was an assistant under Leonard Hamilton.

Dickey Nutt spent 19 years as a head coach at Arkansas State and Southeast Missouri State, amassing a career record of 279-304. He lead Arkansas State to the NCAA Tournament in 1999.
