Dominic Lovett has already earned his stripes with the Tigers.

Missouri’s freshman receiver has officially been given the No. 7 jersey heading into his first season in Eli Drinkwitz’s program, which is a good sign for Tiger fans that are hoping the receiver from East St. Louis High School will make an immediate impact on the field in 2021.

If you were unaware, players must earn their number in Drinkwitz’s program. It took Lovett just two practices to accomplish that in his first spring camp at Mizzou.

During his most recent media availability, Drinkwitz was asked what Lovett had done to quickly earn the No. 7 jersey, the same number the receiver wore during his time at East St. Louis High School.

“Yeah, Dominic was given his number today. He’s just been consistent, playing with great effort, making plays. Made some explosive plays on Friday’s and Saturday’s practice and felt like he had earned the opportunity to wear number seven,” the Missouri coach said.

Lovett was one of two four-star prospects to sign with Mizzou during the 2021 recruiting cycle (the other was defensive lineman Travion Ford). The talented receiver from Illinois was ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect from his state and a top 350 prospect nationally in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

If you watch closely, he can see Lovett catching a pass in a recent spring practice video shared by Missouri.
