Eli Drinkwitz addresses the transfer portal: ‘We are trying to skip the step of adversity’
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz is never one to mince words, so when he was asked about the transfer portal on Tuesday he stayed true to his outspoken form and didn’t hold back.
He hit an array of interesting topics that only Drinkwitz would hit when being asked about something trivial like college football’s transfer portal.
“The greatest generation is the greatest generation because they faced the Great Depression, they faced World War II, they figured it out,” said Drinkwitz. “Sometimes, you got to keep growing. Sometimes, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.”
He built on this thought, saying that entering the portal is essentially like “avoiding adversity.”
Great answer from Eli Drinkwitz when asked about transfer portal.
“We are such a instant gratification era, myself included — I’m not putting this on anybody, it’s the entire world we live in.

Drinkwitz’s Tigers (5-6) have faced a ton of adversity in 2022 and have 1 more very big thing to play for on Black Friday when they host Arkansas (6-5). With a victory, Missouri can become bowl-eligible after a frustrating season that has included a slew of close losses, including a 26-22 home loss to top-ranked Georgia back on Oct. 1.
