Eli Drinkwitz’s defense is going to have to make due without a couple key contributors for the rest of the season.
The Missouri head coach talked Tuesday about the season-ending injuries to defensive end Joe Moore and linebacker Khalil Jacobs.
“We have had some adversity and will face some adversity this week,” said Drinkwitz. “We’re certainly going to miss those guys and their contributions to our football team and our brotherhood. They’re still part of who we are this season, but we will not be able to utilize them on the field.”

Jacobs left the Tigers’ Week 7 victory against UMass with an unknown injury. Meanwhile, Moore’s injury caused him to miss the UMass game.
Defensive lineman Chris McClellan said the Tigers have some young guys who he expects to step up in the absence of Jacobs and Moore.
Drinkwitz was asked if he had any idea about Jacobs or Moore getting medical waivers for an extra season, but he wasn’t sure.
“I was gonna make a joke about the NCAA, but they make themselves,” said Drinkwitz.

Missouri will begin life without Jacobs and Moore on Saturday at home against Auburn. The 19th-ranked Tigers are 5-1 and looking to stay afloat for a possible College Football Playoff berth.
