Eli Drinkwitz is not letting No. 14 Missouri take Florida for granted this weekend.

Drinkwitz said at his press conference on Tuesday that despite a 5-5 record, the Gators are still a “really good football team.”

Much like the Tigers, Florida had a “dominant performance” against Tennessee earlier this season, Drinkwitz said.

“I know their record is not what they want,” Drinkwitz said. “Coach (Billy) Napier is building the right kind of culture and the right kind of fight and attention to detail. They have really good schemes on both sides of the ball.”

Drinkwitz said that even though Florida lost 52-35 loss to LSU this past weekend, the Gators had a lead in the third quarter.

Drinkwitz noted that the Gators have “some really talented players,” including Ricky Pearsall and Micah Mazzccua, both of which were transfers.

“If you look at their roster, it’s littered with 4-to-5 star guys top to bottom,” Drinkwitz said.

When a reporter asked Drinkwitz if Florida had its backs against the wall, Drinkwitz said it doesn’t have “anything to do with preparation” for Missouri.

“Our preparation is our understanding that we respect our opponent, who they are and the level of play they can perform at,” Drinkwitz said. “We have respect for (Florida), but it’s really more about how we want to play and what kind of mentality we want to play with, the attention to detail we need to have in practice this week and other things.”
