Eli Drinkwitz understands that Missouri is still not closing games out the way he wants, but the Tigers stayed undefeated on Saturday with a win at Vanderbilt.
“We’ll take the 5-0 record and we’ll keep on rolling,” he said.
Drinkwitz said Brady Cook’s preparation has helped the quarterback because no one’s in the building more than Cook, and it means a lot to him.
“He’s got a lot of really good wide receivers and I think we did a really good job of keeping him upright,” Drinkwitz said. “There wasn’t much pressure in his face, so all those combinations were really good.”
Drinkwitz previously said he challenged his defense to not be perfect, but it didn’t sustain that push long enough.
“They did for a little while, but the 4th quarter we’ve got some work to do,” he said. “You know what, it’s good. We’re not a finished product. There’s still a lot of room for improvement and that’s what they pay us to do, go get it better. … Playing on the road, no matter where you go is really hard. But I was really proud with the way our team, it was just about us. We were really focused on us.”
