Eli Drinkwitz, Missouri catching heat on social media after embarassing loss at Texas A&M
Eli Drinkwitz and Missouri entered Week 6 as the No. 9 team in the country.
That won’t be the case when the next rankings come out. The Tigers were pulverized by No. 25 Texas A&M, 41-10, falling to 4-1 in the process.
This was all A&M out of the gate as it opened up a 24-0 halftime lead and stretched it 34-0 in the 3rd quarter. Mizzou finally got on the board with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd, but the Aggies were in control throughout the game.
Mizzou didn’t surprise anybody as it opened the season with wins over FCS Murray State and Buffalo from the MAC. But it struggled with Boston College and needed overtime to defeat Vanderbilt before a humiliating defeat in Aggieland.
What does that mean for Drinkwitz and his Tigers? They entered the season with expectations about as high as they’ve been since the Gary Pinkel years. A College Football Playoff bid certainly isn’t out of the picture, but a loss like this — after a bye week, no less — won’t help matters at all, especially with teams like Alabama and Oklahoma still on the schedule.
Here’s some of the reactions Drinkwitz is getting on social media after Saturday’s defeat:
Must have been quite the halftime speech from Eli Drinkwitz.

Eli Drinkwitz didn't have his team ready to play. Off a bye. Just flat as as pancake
This comes after a game in which… Eli Drinkwitz didn't have his team ready to play.
There's no spite in it, Drink. This isn't media narrative forming against. This fan base isn't rooting…

Drinkwitz kicks a field goal down 34 with 8 seconds left. I guess he feels nobody beats Mizzery by 34 points. #MIZvsTAMU

I really thought Drinkwitz was changing the culture at Mizzou.
Days like today are why the SEC doesn’t take Mizzou very seriously.
And with the complete basketball collapse, it’s still uncertain what they’re bringing to the conference at this point.Yes, the culture still sucks

Eli Drinkwitz is not a good coach. Only a decent recruiter. Mizzou will go no where with him. Same with Brady Cook. Straight garbage.

Drinkwitz clown antics were only (barely) tolerable when he pulled a rabbit out of his hat and stumbled into an 11-2 season.
He’s gonna have to self reflect.

I’d like to thank Eli Drinkwitz, Kirby Moore, Corey Batoon, and most importantly Brady Cook for putting me in my place and reminding me what it’s like to be a Mizzou fan. Started to get a little ahead of myself there so thanks

Hey Drinkwitz maybe that robot dog could help you get your team ready for a football game. Embarrassing

Not sure what Drinkwitz is standing on, but it sure doesn’t look like business. pic.twitter.com/Vdi9u1teq1
