Eli Drinkwitz says achieving long-term goals starts with ‘short-term success’

Missouri was blown out at Tennessee on Saturday, 66-24.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-6 on the season, but they have been more competitive than that record would indicate.

Four of the losses suffered by Eli Drinkwitz’s team have been by a combined 18 points.

Still, the Tigers are now in a position where they have to beat New Mexico State and Arkansas in their final 2 games if they hope to play in a bowl game.

Drinkwitz, however, said his team has to take it one game at a time.

“For us, it’s all about the seniors this week,” Drinkwitz said Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference. “The next step is to try to be 1-0. If we can do that, it sets us up for our goal next weekend, which is to get to the postseason. … Long-term success of this program is going to be determined by the short-term success of this week.”

The Tigers play host to the Aggies at 7: 30 p.m. (ET) Saturday. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
