Eli Drinkwitz complimented wideout Luther Burden at the SEC teleconference on Wednesday. Burden has taken the next step in his progression, according to the Missouri head coach.
Burden was a former 5-star receiver out of East Saint Louis (Ill.) East Saint Louis via the 2022 class. The 247Sports Composite rated him as the No. 1 player at his position.
It looks like Burden is starting to live up to expectations. Drinkwitz stated that Burden is understanding how to utilize things like sleep, rehab, and nutrition.
Drinkwitz believes Theo Wease has had a positive impact on Burden.
“Luther’s kind of taken that next step in his progression, understanding that talent, everybody has talent, but it’s about how you utilize your nutrition, sleep, rehab, player performance, strength and conditioning. I think he’s taken his approach more serious. I would credit a lot of that to Theo Wease, I think Theo’s maturity in that room, and showing these guys what it looks like on a day-to-day basis. I’ve been really pleased with Theo and I think that’s translated to Luther.”
Burden led the team in receiving yards (96) in the season opener against South Dakota. Burden also found the endzone on a 15-yard catch in the fourth quarter.
