Eli Drinkwitz has quieted a plethora of doubters en route to an 8-2 campaign in the 2023 season, as his Tigers have won behind a prolific offense and a defense full of future NFL players.

With on-field success comes improvements off of it as well, and Drinkwitz went on SiriusXM Radio to discuss how the program’s triumphs have impacted his recruiting pitch.

“For the first time in my career, we’re picking – we’re not recruiting. We can tell a guy, ‘eh, we don’t have a spot for you’ or ‘yeah, we’ll see you on an official visit.” Drinkwitz said. “The message that I have to everybody is that Missouri has a lot of stability in the midst of a lot of chaos in college football.”

Missouri has generally been ahead of the curve in the NIL world, with the state signing a bill earlier this year that allows high school athletes that have signed with the Tigers to begin making NIL revenue among other pro-NIL initiatives.

He also adds that, with the coaching carousel and the transfer portal, Mizzou’s personnel retainment from last season has impacted the perception of the program as well.

“Part of the reason fro the success we’ve had this year is the stability we had on the defensive side of the ball, and even on the offensive side with hiring Kirby [Moore] but still being able to keep most of our signals,” Drinkwitz said. “In uncertainty, stability provides you a chance to really have some success.”
