Eli Drinkwitz didn’t seem too worried about Missouri’s first ranking since 2019.

Missouri comes into Week 5 ranked at No. 23. Drinkwitz said that he hasn’t spent time a lot of time thinking about it at Wednesday’s teleconference.

“Honestly, Bob, haven’t spent a ton of time thinking about it. Because rankings don’t matter what you do this week, and so our goal was not to be ranked in Week 4,” said Drinkwitz. “Our goal was to figure out where we’re at by the end of the season. So haven’t put a lot of time into it, appreciate the recognition for people to consider that. But we’re more focused on what we can control this week, which is playing on the road at Vandy.”

Drinkwitz is more focused on Mizzou’s next opponent, Vanderbilt. The Commodores are 2-3 (0-1 SEC) heading into the matchup.

A win on Saturday would make it a four-game winning streak against Vanderbilt for Missouri.

Missouri is coming off of a close 34-27 win over Memphis in Week 4. Mizzou jumped out to a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter before a late touchdown from Memphis got it within seven points.

Kickoff between Missouri and Vandy will be at 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network Saturday live from Nashville, Tennessee.
