Eli Drinkwitz taking heat on social media after horrendous Mizzou start
Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers haven’t had the start to the 2021 season they thought they’d have after a surprising 5-5 record in 2020.
The Tigers have taken a step back this year and currently sport the nation’s worst run defense. Naturally, that is causing problems against a team that runs the ball as well as Texas A&M.
On Saturday afternoon, the Aggies already hold a 21-7 lead midway through the second quarter and have been running almost at-will against the Tiger defense.
But, with the offense also struggling (QB Connor Bazelak has thrown 2 picks already), Drinkwitz is starting to take some heat on social media.
Here are some of the things being said about the second-year Mizzou head coach on Saturday:
There’s a strong case to be made that Eli Drinkwitz hiring Steve Wilks to run his defense was the worse personnel move in college football this year

Drinkwitz, on a third-and-20, saw fit to run yet another WR screen to Chance Luper.
He picked up eight.
The offense has been a difficult watch through the first 18-plus minutes of game action.

Drinkwitz is looking completely out of his element. #Mizzou

Eli Drinkwitz wishing he could go back to App State knowing he’ll be gone in a year or 2 ?

Honesty time. I may have bought into Eli Drinkwitz too quickly. Missouri is awful.

I am still optimistic about Drinkwitz but this squad is lackluster and has zero intensity. Look defeated from kickoff

Drinkwitz has been a great Head Coach from Sunday to Friday.
On gamedays he makes a lot of questionable decisions.
The jury is still out on him.#TAMUvsMIZ 7-0

Are we terrible? Yes. Am I going to stop supporting Missouri? No. If I can sit through Kim Anderson Era I can sit through this. I still believe in Drinkwitz, but I do not believe in our defensive coordinator. He needs to go, yesterday. #MIZ

We’ll see if the Tigers can turn things around moving forward. If not, Drinkwitz will continue to hear it from fans on social media.
