Eli Drinkwitz trolls Bob Stoops after win over Oklahoma

Eli Drinkwitz had some fun at Oklahoma’s expense following Mizzou’s 30-23 win over the Sooners on Saturday night.

When Drinkwitz took the podium to make his opening statement in his postgame press conference, he called back to a comment made by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops earlier this summer.

Before the start of the 2024 season, Stoops was talking about Oklahoma’s introduction into the SEC and was making the point that the program wouldn’t be intimidated by joining a league that included Missouri and Texas A&M — 2 teams Oklahoma was largely dominant against when they faced off in the Big 12.

“We beat the hell out of Missouri, all of a sudden now we’re supposed to be afraid of them?” Stoops told ESPN.

Well, Drinkwitz remembered that comment in the aftermath of Missouri’s triumphant win on Saturday night.

“This will be real disappointing to Bob Stoops, but OU doesn’t always whoop Missouri’s ass anymore,” he said.

That win marked Mizzou’s third win over Oklahoma since 1984. However, the Tigers have now won 2 of the last 3 meetings in this series.

Perhaps more importantly, the Tigers are still in the mix for a College Football Playoff berth with just 2 losses. Mizzou will go on the road to face South Carolina in Week 12.
