The Missouri coaching staff under new coach Eliah Drinkwitz is beginning to come together.

Drinkwitz plans to hire tight ends coach Casey Woods from UAB, and outside linebackers coach D.J. Smith from App State, Power Mizzou and Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reported separately.

Woods just finished his third year as the tight ends coach at UAB, and he also served as the run game coordinator and the recruiting efforts for the Blazers. Before UAB, Woods spent three years as the Director of Player Personnel at Auburn from 2013-15. That was his second stint at Auburn after he was as an offensive quality control assistant at Auburn from from 2009-11. He was a member of the 2010 national championship team.

In 2012, Woods coached the wide receivers and served as the recruiting coordinator for Arkansas State.

Smith is an App State alum, and 2019 was his second season coaching the outside linebackers. Smith was an App State linebacker from 2007-10 and played four NFL seasons, where he played for Green Bay, Houston and Carolina. He returned to Boone in 2016 as the director of recruiting relations and worked in 2017 as a senior defensive analyst.
