Maty Mauk’s Mizzou career didn’t end as he would have liked, as he was kicked off the team for good prior to the 2016 season following various suspensions the previous year.
He found a new home at Eastern Kentucky in 2016, but didn’t have the same success he had at Mizzou. In 2016, he threw for only 303 yards and one touchdown.
Still, he finished his college career with 4,373 yards and 42 touchdowns for the Tigers and the Colonels.
Now, he’s planning on making a run at an NFL career, according to his Instagram page, where he posted an announcement for a pro day:
The event will take place on Friday, April 7, in Springfield, Missouri, and is open to all scouts.
Though his off-the-field issues will cause concern among NFL squads, there’s still talent in Mauk’s arm.
In his best season at Mizzou in 2014, Mauk threw for 2,648 yards and 25 touchdowns for a Tiger squad that lost in the SEC Championship Game.
Whether he gets a crack at an NFL roster remains to be seen, but with a weak quarterback class, someone will likely take a flier on the former Tiger.
