Mizzou’s depth at receiver looks to be taking a hit this week as sophomore Khmari Thompson has announced his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Thompson, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., has yet to catch a pass for the Tigers in his two seasons with the program (one of those years was spent as a redshirt player). Thompson was a three-star member of the program’s 2018 recruiting class.

Thompson released a statement on Monday, thanking both Barry Odom and Eli Drinkwitz for allowing him to grow on and off the field, but he also notes that he and his family believe it best to explore their options in the transfer portal.

“I’ve received nothing but love from the fans and locals from the state of Missouri,” Thompson wrote. “After many conversations with my family concerning my future as a student-athlete, I have decided to enters the transfer portal to seek out the best place to utilize my reaming eligibility and pursue my education.”

As always, it should be noted that just because a prospect has entered the portal, that does not mean they won’t return to the program. Entering the portal simply allows other coaches to contact the player in regards to a potential transfer without tampering.
