Coming into the 2018 season, it was no secret that Mizzou QB Drew Lock threw one of the best deep balls in the country.

However, many thought this would be the year that he’d progress in the mid-range and shorter passes, but that simply hasn’t been the case.

In fact, as you can see below, Lock’s passing chart looks like it’s backwards, with a much better rating coming on deep passes than on the shorter and middle-distance throws, where he’s actually been pretty bad:

A lot of that deep-ball success is due to Lock’s connection with Emanuel Hall, but Hall has been out the past two games and will miss this weekend’s game against Memphis.

If he can come back soon, Lock could continue to dominate on the deep throws, but he’ll need to work on those other routes to bring Mizzou to the level it wants to be at.
