Luther Burden created quite the stir after Mizzou’s win over Boston College in Week 3. He took time to clarify his comments for “The Paul Finebaum Show,” but Burden also stands by the message behind his comments.

Shortly after the win over the Eagles, Burden called it “disrespect” for Missouri to not be “on the big stage with the big TV cameras.” He also said the Tigers “took it personal” but aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

Speaking with Finebaum, Burden said his intentions were to say the Tigers need to be “showcased” on networks besides being relegated to the SEC Network. The work has also been put in to grow the stature of the program.

“I just wanted to let everyone know that Missouri needs to be showcased a little bit more instead of just SEC Network,” explained Burden. “I feel like we’ve worked so hard to get to the point we’re at and I feel like we should be recognized at the highest levels.”

Finebaum made sure the star receiver knows he doesn’t control the scheduling, but he also hopes those decision-makers are listening to the message.

“By the way, Luther: I work here, I don’t have any earthly idea how the schedule is made between the SEC, the ABC and ESPN,” Finebaum admitted. “I hope they’re listening to you.”

“I hope so, too,” said Burden while laughing.

For now, Mizzou is going to have to be content with the SEC Network again in Week 4. The Tigers are -20 per ESPN Bet in a showdown against Vanderbilt with a 4:15 pm ET kickoff.
