Missouri’s attempts to climb up the SEC standings before the season ends just got significantly tougher as sophomore guard Mark Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the season by Missouri.

This season was Smith’s first with the Tigers after playing for Illinois last season. He started 13 games and appeared in 19 contests for Illinois before transferring to Missouri. The NCAA granted him a waiver to play immediately this season, which led to him starting for Missouri and the team’s second-leading scorer.

According to Chris Gervino, Sports Director for KOMU Sports, Smith has been lost for the season due to an ankle injury that required surgery.

Smith had missed several games recently for Missouri due to the injury. Missouri is currently 12-14 overall on the season with a 3-11 conference record.
