It’s a touching story for Missouri fans: Markus Golden transformed himself from a high school running back (and linebacker) who didn’t qualify academically to a fringe second-team defensive end to a potential high-round draft choice in 2015.

After one of the greatest seasons ever for a Missouri backup, Golden now is a team captain and vocal leader. He seems poised to become one of the SEC’s household names and is a threat to lead the conference in sacks in 2014.

Speaking of households, Missouri’s athletic department put together a nice video on Golden’s childhood and his rise from a raw, athletic St. Louis prep standout to the verge of an NFL career.

It’s worth a watch due to the volume of highlight video that Missouri can access, as well as solid interviews with Golden, Shane Ray and defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski.
