Marvin Burks Jr. is staying close to home after all. The blue-chip defensive back from St. Louis announced Sunday that he has flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Missouri.

The big news was revealed on social media.

Burks surprised recruiting experts when he chose Ole Miss over Mizzou for his initial commitment on Oct. 21. The Cardinal Ritter College Prep standout is listed at 6-2, 190 pounds and rated 4-stars, the No. 10 recruit in the state of Missouri, No. 31 safety and No. 316 prospect overall in the 2023 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite.

During his recruitment, Burks picked up scholarship offers from 35 schools, including Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

Burks is now the highest-rated defensive commitment of 16 pledges for Eli Drinkwitz’s staff in the 2023 recruiting class. He played wide receiver and defensive back in his junior season (highlights below):
