After 2 years on Missouri’s coaching staff, Casey Woods has left for a larger role.

On Tuesday, SMU announced that Woods has been hired to serve as the offensive coordinator under new head coach Rhett Lashlee. Woods had been Mizzou’s tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator since the start of the 2020 season.

This will be the 1st time that Woods is serving as a team’s top offensive assistant. He was previously the tight ends coach, run game coordinator and recruiting coordinator at UAB from 2017-19. He also had 2 stints at Auburn, serving as an offensive quality control assistant from 2009-11, then returning as the director of player personnel from 2013-15.

Woods was a wide receiver at Tennessee from 2003-07, and he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant for the Vols in 2008.

Lashlee and Woods have ties from their time together at Auburn. Lashlee was a graduate assistant for the Tigers from 2009-10, then returned as their offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2013-16.

Now, Woods will look to help Lashlee have success at SMU, as they inherit a program that has reached a bowl game in 4 of the past 5 seasons.
