Missouri center Connor Vanover will not play in the first 3 games of the Tigers’ 2023-24 season, the program announced on Monday.

Vanover’s absence is linked to his participation in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament back in April, according to the announcement.

The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is a pre-NBA Draft camp that is limited to college basketball seniors.

Vanover chose to return to college basketball for the 2023-24 season. This will be his 6th year of college basketball and Mizzou is his 4th program. He began his collegiate career at Cal before transferring to Arkansas. He sat out 1 season with the Razorbacks before serving as a backup center with the team for 2 years.

Vanover was a key part of Oral Roberts in 2022-23. He started all 34 games last season and averaged 12.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.

His suspension will start on Monday night with Mizzou’s game against Arkansas Pine-Bluff. He will also miss contests vs. Memphis and SIU Edwardsville. He will be eligible to make his program debut against Minnesota on Nov. 16.
