Mizzou DL Nate Howard was arrested on Wednesday after a stop for expired plates on his vehicle led to a search that revealed marijuana and another controlled substance.

After learning of the arrest, the Tigers suspended Howard indefinitely. On Friday, Howard took to Twitter to issue a heartfelt apology for his mistakes:

Whether Howard’s suspension carries over to the regular season remains to be seen, but the Tigers have a lot of experience returning along the defensive line.

In two seasons, Howard has recorded 15 tackles and half a sack for the Tigers. The 6-4, 230-pound lineman was expected to fill a bigger role for Mizzou this fall, but this week’s arrest casts that into doubt.
